Assistant Teaching Professor, Institution for Educational Initiatives: Wisdom in Art: How Art and Artifacts Educate
University of Notre Dame, USA
This course is aimed at introducing practices of close-looking at art and artefacts in order to further understand them, individually and within their wider context, and unlock their wisdom. It invites a broad understanding of pedagogical sources to consider how art and artefacts might "instruct" as well as how to learn from them. Various objects–paintings, sculptures, prints, stamps and books–will be experienced and examined across the rich array of campus collections and archives.
